Alexander Pflum (born February 19, 1930 in Soroksár ; † July 12, 2012 in Nürtingen ) was a German football player , innkeeper and local politician of Hungarian origin.

life and career

Alexander Pflum was born in the Soroksár district of the Hungarian capital Budapest and spent his childhood and early youth there with his sister and brother Ludwig Pflum . After the Second World War he came to Germany as a displaced person. Here he lived in Nürtingen and played in the Oberensingen district of the local soccer club, like his brother. In 1947 he moved to the second team of the Stuttgarter Kickers . After a year he was used in the first team from 1948 at the age of 18. During this time, the club played in the Soccer League South , at that time the highest German league. In his first years Pflum belonged to the "Hundred Gates Storm". The Kickers had become second class for a year as early as 1949/50 . After they were relegated again at the end of the 1957/58 season , Pflum had to end his football career due to an injury.

During his time as a player, he ran a Toto Lotto acceptance point and a fast-food restaurant from 1949. Since 1968 he has been running a hotel with a restaurant. In his Hungarian homeland he had learned to be a confectioner and cook, and in Germany he went back to his profession as a cook. He was known for his Hungarian specialties. Until 2007 he worked in the company, which has been run by his son since 1984.

Pflum had been married since 1949 and was able to celebrate the diamond wedding with his wife . They had three sons together. He is described as a Nürtingen original with southern temperament as well as great cordiality and joie de vivre.

Volunteering

Alexander Pflum was a city councilor in Nürtingen from 1984 to 1999. He was instrumental in establishing the town twinning with his home municipality. In the hotel and restaurant association he was local chairman from 1959 and from 1971 on the district executive committee.
