Alexander Ziegler (athlete)

Alexander Ziegler (born July 7, 1987 in Heidenheim ) is a former German athlete who specialized in hammer throwing. Between 2015 and 2017 he won the German hammer throw championship three times in a row.

Career

He took part in the European Athletics U23 Championships in 2009 in the  S.Dariaus and S.Girėno stadium  in  Kaunas and was able to secure the bronze medal with 72.32 meters. After winning the silver medal behind Markus Esser at the German championships in 2014 , he finished his streak of five championship titles in a row and won the gold medal in the LG Staufen jersey at the German Athletics Championships 2015 in Nuremberg . After this season he left the LG Staufen and joined the SV Thurn und Taxis Dischingen . He was able to defend his championship title at the German championships in Kassel in 2016 and in Erfurt in 2017 .
