Alexander Ziolkewitz (* in Bottrop ) is a former German soccer player .

Player career

At the beginning of his career, Ziolkewitz played in his hometown at VfB Bottrop in the Oberliga Niederrhein . In 1933 he signed a contract with SV Werder Bremen , which could only finance him with the financial support of the patron Wolfgang Ritter ( Martin Brinkmann AG ).

In the newly founded Gauliga Niedersachsen , the SVW triumphed straight away. In the subsequent final round of the German championship , he already failed in the group stage, among others at the eventual German champions FC Schalke 04 . In 1936 and 1937 , the group stage was also the end of the line. Both times, however, significantly closer than 1934. In 1935, they only lost both games against group winners Vorwärts-Rasensport Gleiwitz and the following year a big win against Schalke would have been enough on the last day of the game, but it was only played 2-2. In the same year Werder was the first team to fly to a DM game by Lufthansa aircraft. In 1942 Ziolkewitz moved into the quarter-finals with his club after victories against Hamborn and Eimsbüttel , but failed there at Kickers Offenbach . In total, Ziolkewitz played 20 games in the DM finals for Werder Bremen, scoring six goals.

Ziolkewitz was part of the Bremen team for ten years, and he was also allowed to take part in the Lower Saxony selection from time to time due to the risk of scoring goals.

In 1943 he then moved to Hertha BSC . With the old lady , he immediately won the Gauliga Berlin-Brandenburg . As a result, he entered the final round of the German championship with the Berliners , although he only played the first round game against LSV Danzig , which ended 0-0. In the replay he won 7: 1, he no longer played, and he was no longer involved in the 4: 2 win over Holstein Kiel and the quarter-final at HSV Groß-Born . Following the season, Ziolkewitz ended his football career.
