← German championship 1934/35
The 29th German championship season 1935/36 brought some sporty surprises. For the first time in three years, FC Schalke 04 failed to reach the championship finals and failed in the semi-finals. Already in the preliminary round it was quite tight for the Gelsenkirchen team . Another big surprise was the advance of the Silesian master forward lawn sport Gleiwitz into the semi-finals of this championship.
The outstanding team this season, however, was 1. FC Nürnberg , which reached the championship finals for the 8th time and became German champions for the 6th time. In addition, the Nürnberger had already won the Tschammer Cup , the forerunner of the DFB Cup , which was held for the first time in December 1935 . However, this is part of the 1934/35 season and so this performance is not recognized as an official double . The final opponent of the Nürnberger was Fortuna Düsseldorf , which reached the final for the second time after 1933, but was ultimately unhappy there.
