← German championship 1919/20 |
The fourteenth German soccer championship experienced the first successful title defense when 1. FC Nürnberg won the title. The dominance of the Nuremberg was downright overwhelming this year. With the Hamburger SV another great team of German football first appeared at the finals in appearance. The club was created on June 1, 1919 through the merger of SC Germania, Hamburger FC and FC Falke 06. The first appearance of the North German master was a disappointment.
In north-east Germany, VfB Königsberg could not take part in the finals because it was only able to win its north-east German championship title after a protest. The Stettiner SC , recognized champions at the start of the finals, took part in the German championship. This year, too, the Workers' Gymnastics and Sports Association determined its own German soccer champion. VfL Leipzig-Stötteritz became the title holder . And the Catholic sports association, the German youth force , played its title holder for the first time: the winner was the DJK Katernberg .
