Alexander Ritter von Bandrowski , also Aleksander Sas von Nowosiecle Bandrowski , pseudonym Barski ( April 22, 1860 in Lubaczów , Galicia - May 28, 1913 in Cracow ) was an Austro-Polish theater actor , opera singer ( tenor ) and artistic director .

Life

Bandrowski, son of a kk Austrian district captain, was supposed to become a lawyer and therefore attended the university there after graduating from high school in Krakow. In 1881 he decided to go to the stage. He first tried his hand at acting, but was drawn to his voice by art lovers.

He went to Italy to Antonio Sangiovanni and then went to Vienna to have his voice trained by Luigi Salvi .

He had his first engagement in Linz, then went to Kroll in Berlin (1887) and Vienna (1888), then to Prague (1889). On June 1, 1889, he was appointed to the Stadttheater Frankfurt am Main. He stayed there until 1901.

After that he was still a guest in Poland until 1910, mainly in Krakow and Lemberg. From 1905 to 1908 he was the artistic director of the Cracow Opera House and then worked as a professor at the Conservatory in that city.
