Alexandra Grünberger began playing skeleton in 2000, and in 2001 she was promoted to the Austrian national team. She competed in her first international races in 2000 as part of the first ever European Skeleton Cup and finished 12th in Igls , ninth in Altenberg and sixth in Königssee . The Austrian took eighth place in the overall ranking. In 2001 he made his debut in the Skeleton World Cup in Königssee with a 21st place . In 2003, she placed 9th in the Skeleton Junior World Championship (Königssee). At the Skeleton World Championship in Koenigssee in 2004 , she finished 16th. In addition, she won her first title at national championships in the same year. She also defended the title for the next two years. Grünberger had her best season in the 2004/05 season . The Austrian competed in five of the seven World Cup races and achieved her best result with 16th place in Altenberg . At the end of 2005 she contested her last international race in the European Cup. She works as a German teacher and social worker in Zirl .
