Alexandre Iddir

Alexandre Iddir (born February 21, 1991 in Villepinte ) is a French judoka . In 2014 he won bronze at the European Championships.

Athletic career

The 1.84 m tall Iddir competed in the middleweight division from 2009 to 2016, in the weight class up to 90 kilograms. In 2010 he was fifth in the European Junior Championships and seventh in the World Junior Championships. In 2011, he took fifth place at the Universiade in Shenzhen . In 2013 he won the French championships and won bronze at the U23 European championships. At the 2014 European Championships in Montpellier, he lost to the Russian Kirill Voprossow in the semi-finals , and in the battle for bronze he defeated the Swede Joakim Dvärby . The 2015 European Championships were held as part of the 2015 European Games in Baku. Iddir was eliminated in the round of 16 against the Turkish Mikael Özerler . Iddir won the team competition with the French team. At the Grand Slam tournament in Paris he was defeated in the final in October 2015 by the Georgian Warlam Liparteliani . In February 2016 he reached the final again after beating Liparteliani in the quarter-finals, this time losing to Daiki Nishiyama from Japan . Two and a half months later, Iddir took fifth place at the 2016 European Championships in Kazan. At the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, he was defeated in the quarterfinals to the Japanese Mashu Baker . After his loss in the hope round against the Swede Marcus Nyman , Iddir finished seventh.

In November 2016 Iddir won the French light heavyweight championship, the weight class up to 100 kilograms, in 2017 and 2018 he also won. In 2018 Iddir won a bronze medal at the Mediterranean Games in Tarragona .
