Alexandru Bratan
Alexandru Bratan (born August 23, 1977 in Cahul ) is a former Moldovan weightlifter .
Career
Bratan reached in 1997 at the European championships the eighth and at the world championships the ninth place in the class up to 99 kg. In 1998 he was fourth at the European Championships in the class up to 105 kg. At the 1999 World Championships he reached sixth place. In 2000 he took part in the Olympic Games in Sydney, where he was sixth. At the 2001 World Championships , he finished fourth in a duel and won silver in snatching and bronze in pushing.
In 2004 Bratan won the bronze medal at the European Championships . At the Olympic Games in Athens he was fourth in the same year. At the 2005 World Championships he was runner-up. In 2006 he was third at the European Championships. Because of a doping violation he was disqualified and banned for life.
His brother Eugen Bratan was also a weightlifter.
