Alexandru Karikas (born May 10, 1931 in Satu Mare , † April 14, 2007 ) was a Romanian football player . He played a total of 222 games in the Divizia A . In 1953 he won the Romanian championship with CCA Bucharest .

Career

Karikas played in the 1953 season for CA Câmpulung Moldovenesc in Divizia A when the club was dissolved mid-season. He then joined CCA Bucharest , with whom he was able to win the championship at the end of the season. After two years as a regular in the CCAs team, he switched to Progresul Oradea in early 1956 , where he won the Romanian Cup . In early 1957 he was hired by Progresul Bucharest . With Progresul, he had two more cup successes before he ended his career in 1964.

National team

Karikas appeared five times for the Romanian national team. He made his debut on September 14, 1958 against the national soccer team of the GDR under national coach Gheorghe Popescu . Karikas was used in all five official internationals in 1958 and 1959, including the two qualifying games for the 1960 European Championship against Turkey . On September 30, 1959, he came against Poland for the last time.
