Alexandru "Alex" Munteanu (born October 31, 1987 in Mediaş ) is a Romanian football player . He has been under contract with ACS Poli Timișoara since summer 2017 .

Career

Munteanu started playing football at the age of eleven with Gaz Metan Mediaș in his hometown. After he had gone through all youth teams, he came in 2005 for the first time in the squad of the first team that played in Divizia B at the time . After five missions in the 2005/06 season , he had to wait three years before being considered again. On August 12, 2009, he played his first game in League 1 against FC Vaslui . Munteanu quickly became a core force in midfield. He was able to finish the 2010/11 season with his team in seventh place and thus qualified for the Europa League . In the following years he fought with his club to stay in class. In the 2012/13 season Munteanu missed most of the games and only made six appearances in the final phase. In 2014 Munteanu's contract was not renewed and he was without engagement for six months before he was hired again at Gaz Metan. After the season 2014/15 he was relegated with his team, the club but retained and made an immediate resurgence . The 2016/17 season he managed to stay in class with Gaz Metan.

In the summer of 2017 Munteanu left his home club and joined league rivals ACS Poli Timișoara .
