Alexei Kornienko

Alexei Kornienko ( Russian Алексей Корниенко ; born May 5, 1954 in Moscow ) is an Austrian conductor , pianist and professor of piano and chamber music of Russian descent.

Life

Alexei Kornienko's musical path began at the age of five. He studied at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow , where he attended, among other things, the piano class of Jakow Israilewitsch Sak . Kornienko also studied at the Conservatory in Kharkov , where he was trained as a conductor by Vakhtang Jordania . In 1983 he was a prizewinner of the International Rachmaninov Competition. In 1990 he moved to Austria, where he has been professor of piano and chamber music at the Carinthian State Conservatory in Klagenfurt .

Alexei Kornienko is a co-founder of the chamber orchestra Collegium Musicum Carinthia. Together with the violinist Elena Denisova , he also founded the Gustav Mahler Ensemble, which performs at the annual Woerthersee Classics Festival in Klagenfurt.

In parallel to these obligations, Kornienko appears at concerts, festivals and international tours, for example at the Beethovenfest in Bonn . He worked u. a. with the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra , the Moscow Philharmonic and the George Enescu Philharmonic. Alexei Kornienko was chief conductor of the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra from 2009 to 2011. Since 2012 he has been chief conductor of the International Danube Philharmonic.
