Woerthersee Classics Festival
The Woerthersee Classics Festival has been a five-day series of concerts and events in Klagenfurt am Wörthersee that has been held annually in early summer since 2002 .
The focus is on the presentation of the works of five composers of late Romantic and early modern music associated with Lake Wörthersee : Gustav Mahler , Alban Berg , Anton von Webern , Johannes Brahms and Hugo Wolf . One festival day is dedicated to each of these composers.
In addition, the festival sees itself as a forum for contemporary compositions. Franz Hummel , Dieter Kaufmann , Alfred Huber , Wolfram Wagner , Maximilian Kreuz, Otto M. Zykan , Udo Zimmermann and Gerhard Lampersberg are among the numerous musicians whose works have been performed in recent years - some of them were commissioned compositions and world premieres .

The festival is organized by the Austrian Gustav Mahler Association. The artistic director is the violinist Elena Denisova , the artistic director of the pianist and conductor Alexei Kornienko .
