Alexei Olegowitsch Simakow ( Russian Алексей Олегович Симаков ; born April 7, 1979 in Sverdlovsk , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player .
Career
Alexei Simakov started his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the junior department of Junost Yekaterinburg. From there he moved to Dinamo-Energija Yekaterinburg , for whose professional team he was active between 1997 and 2002 in the Superliga and the second-rate Wysschaja Liga . Then the winger spent three years with Superliga participants Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk , where he ended the 2004/05 season with league rivals Ak Bars Kazan . The following season he then spent again at Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk.
From 2006 to 2008 Simakow was under contract with HK CSKA Moscow in the super league. For the 2008/09 season he moved to SKA Saint Petersburg , for which he only played a single game in the newly founded Continental Hockey League before he was obliged by its league rivals HK Metallurg Magnitogorsk . With Metallurg he was able to convince especially at European level in the premiere season of the Champions Hockey League , in which he and his team were only defeated by the ZSC Lions from Switzerland in the final . However, he ended the season at his ex-club HK CSKA Moscow.
In the 2009/10 season Simakow joined the KHL newcomer Awtomobilist Yekaterinburg . From the 2010/11 season he was again on the ice for Neftechimik Nizhnekamsk. At the end of December 2011, he moved within the KHL to HK Yugra Khanty-Mansiysk .
Since July 2012 Simakow was under contract with Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg and held the captaincy there in the 2012/13 season. From July 2018 to May 2019 he played for CS Progym Gheorgheni .
International
For Russia Simakov took part in the Euro Hockey Tour in 2005, 2006, 2007 and 2008 respectively . He scored two goals in 31 international matches and gave eight assists.
