Alexei Wladimirowitsch Kosnew ( Russian Алексей Валентинович Кознев ; born October 3, 1975 in Tscherepowez , Russian SFSR ) is a former Russian ice hockey player who has worked for Severstal Tscherepowez , the SKA Saint-Petersburg and Vitjasalen Chekhov Hockey in the Continental League and has played super league. In 2015 he was General Manager at his hometown club Severstal Tscherepowez.

Career

Alexei Kosnew began his career as a hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Metallurg Tscherepowez - renamed Severstal Tscherepowez in 1994 - and played for its professional team from 1992 to 1995 in the International Hockey League . For the 1995/96 season , the center moved within the league to SKA Saint Petersburg , for which he ran up in the following five years, initially in the IHL and from the 1996/97 season in the Super League , in which only Russian clubs were allowed to compete. For the 2000/01 season he returned to his hometown club in Cherepovets, but stayed there only a year before he spent the following season at its league rivals HK Awangard Omsk .

From 2002 to 2004 Kosnew was again under contract with SKA Saint Petersburg, before he was again active for Severstal Tscherepowez in the 2004/05 season . The 2005/06 season began with the former national player and vice world champion from 2002 at HK Sibir Novosibirsk , left after twelve points in 27 games and signed a contract with SKA Saint Petersburg for the third time in his career. At SKA he was initially a regular player and also began the 2008/09 season with his team in the newly founded Continental Hockey League . After only five appearances in the KHL, however, the left-shooter switched to Saint Petersburg's league rivals Vitjas Chekhov , for whom he played until 2011. At the end of the 2010/11 season, he completed a few more games for Molot-Prikamje Perm before ending his career.

International

For Russia Kosnew took part in the 2002 World Cup, where he and his team were runner-up. In the final, he and his team were narrowly defeated by the Slovak national team , which was able to win its first world title. During the tournament he scored three goals and provided two assists in nine games.

As trainer and general manager

Between 2012 and October 2014 Kosnew was an assistant coach at the Serebrjannyje Lwi Saint Petersburg , a junior team of the Molodjoschnaja Chokkeinaja League .

Since October 2015 Kosnew has been General Manager at his hometown club Severstal Tscherepowez .
