Alexei Viktorovich Kelberer ( Russian Алексей Викторович Кельберер ; born February 2, 1898 in Moscow , Russian Empire , † January 29, 1963 in Moscow, RSFSR , USSR ) was a Soviet actor and voice actor .

Life

The Kelberer, who came from a middle-class background, trained as a stage decorator after finishing school and from 1914 worked in parallel as an outfitter for the Maly and Bolshoi theaters . In this profession he wanted to pursue a career as a master craftsman, but ended his training after only one year and volunteered for the Red Army in 1918 , where he was active for an amateur actor group. After being demobilized in December 1920, Kelberer completed training as a director until 1926 . During this time he was still active as an actor and decorator at the Vsevolod Meyerhold Theater , but in the 1930s he also played for other stages, including under Nikolai Ochlopkow . From 1941 to 1944 he worked for the Moscow Oblast Philharmonic , which gave performances for members of the army. From 1945 Kelberer performed at the Moscow State Theater of Film Actors until his death .

After the engagement by the Mosfilm studio , his film career began in 1941 with the role of a German officer in the Soviet-Canadian co-production Боевой киносборник №3 , but he was not mentioned in the credits . In the same year he played his first well-known role with the villain Karamor in The Magic Corn , The Stone Flower is another well-known fairy tale film with his participation. With Montano in The Moor of Venice and as Podgorin in Die Grille after Anton Chekhov , Kelberer also embodied roles in adaptations of well-known literary models. He had already portrayed the latter character at the theater. Kelberer appeared in his films exclusively as a supporting actor , often without being named in the credits. His merit is v. a. Working as a voice actor, he has voiced roles in Russian language versions of many international films.

Kelberer died shortly before his 65th birthday and was buried in the Vagankovo ​​Cemetery , Section 39, in Moscow.

Private

Shortly after he started working for Meyerhold, Kelberer married the actress Maria Feodorovna Sukhanova. Their son Boris Kelberer (1928–2012) became a well-known artist.
