Alexei Wladimirowitsch Zatewitsch ( Russian Алексей Владимирович еатевич , English Alexey Tsatevich ; born July 5, 1989 in Verkhnyaya Pyshma , Sverdlovsk Oblast , RSFSR , USSR ) is a Russian cyclist .

Career

Zatewitsch began his international career in 2001 with the UCI Continental Team . That year he won the one-day race Prix de la Ville de Nogent-sur-Oise , the Russian championship in the criterion race and stages at the Grande Prémio da Costa Azul of the Alsace Tour and the Tour of Bulgaria .

He then moved to UCI WorldTeam Katusha in 2012, for which he won his first victory in a race in the first UCI category in 2013 with the one-day race Le Samyn . At the WorldTour competition Tour of Catalonia 2016 he won the final stage in a two-man sprint. In 2014 he finished seventh in the classic (cycling) Gent-Wevelgem . With the Giro d'Italia 2016 Zatewitsch contested his first Grand Tour . After he was given a time penalty of 6:40 minutes in the individual time trial of the 9th stage for slipstreaming , his team took him out of the race because of “unacceptable behavior”.
