Alexej Barchevitch (born November 6, 1976 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a German violinist and concertmaster of Russian origin.

Life

Alexej Barchevitch was born in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg) in 1976 into a family of musicians. He attended the special music school of the Petersburg Conservatory with Professor Larissa Baranova. He continued his training with Jost Witter at the Belvedere Castle Music High School in Weimar. He then began studying at the Liszt School of Music in Weimar with Jost Witter and graduated in 1998 with a diploma. This was followed by postgraduate studies and in 2003 graduated with a concert diploma.

Alexej Barchevitch gained orchestral experience as concertmaster of the “Belvedere” chamber orchestra, the university orchestra and as a soloist in the orchestra of the International Youth Orchestra Academy.

From 2001 onwards he worked several times as first concertmaster with the London Philharmonic Orchestra (LPO) and with the Nuremberg Philharmonic and the Frankfurt Opera . From 2001 to 2005 he worked as the first concertmaster at the Meiningen State Theater . From 2005 to 2009 he was first concertmaster of “de Filharmonie” - Royal Flemish Philharmonic in Antwerp. In 2009/2010 he was the first concertmaster of the Meiningen court orchestra. Since January 2011 he has been the first concertmaster of the Thuringia Philharmonic Gotha , now the Thuringia Philharmonic Gotha-Eisenach .
