Alexis Peter Nicolas (born February 13, 1983 in Westminster ) is a former English Cypriot football player . The midfielder made three appearances for English first division club Chelsea in 2004 , but ended his professional career at a young age in favor of a professional career.

Career

Nicolas played in the youth division of Aston Villa and received his first professional contract there in April 2001. Without having played a competitive game for the professional team, he moved to Chelsea FC in December 2001 on a free transfer . During the pre-season preparation in the summer of 2003 in Malaysia , he was surprisingly used under coach Claudio Ranieri and finally made his debut on January 24, 2004 in a 1-0 win against Scarborough FC in the FA Cup . Two weeks later he came to the league for the first time when he formed the midfield together with Frank Lampard and Jesper Grønkjær in a 1-0 home win against Charlton Athletic . Nicolas came to another brief assignment on the last day of the season, but then played no role in the plans of the new coach José Mourinho and was awarded to Brighton & Hove Albion in the Football League Championship before the start of the 2004/05 season .

At Brighton Nicolas showed convincing performances under coach Mark McGhee at the start of the season and the club signed the two-way midfielder in October 2004 on a permanent basis. His achievements this season also brought him missions in the U-21 national team of Cyprus . In the following season he was largely a substitute and was also affected by a knee injury. At the end of the season, his contract was not renewed and Nicolas joined the fifth division St Albans City in September 2006 , where he contracted only weekly in order to quickly and easily accept an offer from the Football League . In November 2006 he left St Albans after six league appearances with the prospect of a return to professional football, but there was no commitment and Nicolas ended his professional career a little later. He has been working for a real estate investment company ever since .
