Alfons Baumgartner

Alfons Baumgärtner (born May 9, 1904 in Treherz , Aitrach , Oberamt Leutkirch , Württemberg; † September 4, 1976 near Salzburg ) was a German Catholic clergyman.

Life

Baumgärtner came as the son of Kaspar Baumgärtner and Josephine Baumgärtner, geb. Lanz, born in Treherz in the Western Allgäu. After studying theology and a visit to the Seminary he received in 1928 his ordination as a priest . After a brief activity as a pastor, he joined Caritas in 1930 . From 1939 he was director of the Caritas Association of the Diocese of Rottenburg , based in Stuttgart.

He was a member of the German League of Free Welfare Care , the State Committee for Hooversupply and that for the distribution of foreign gifts of love.

In 1946 he was appointed papal secret chamberlain .
