Alfons Hartmann (born May 15, 1915 in Hamburg , † December 9, 1943 in Italy ) was a German communist resistance fighter against National Socialism and victims of National Socialism .

Life

Hartmann came from a Hamburg working class family . After attending primary school, he learned the trade of metalworker , which he practiced in the Siemens-Schuckert assembly department at Howaldtswerft . He joined the Communist Party of Germany (KPD) and was active against the emerging National Socialism . Even after the transfer of power to the NSDAP , he continued this activity illegally . When the Gestapo became aware of his work, they took him into " protective custody " on October 26, 1933 . A court sentenced him on 26 January 1934 a prison sentence . When the prison term ended, he was transferred to the Esterwegen concentration camp . After he was released from there after the beginning of the Second World War , he went back to his company and got in touch with the resistance group " Bästlein-Jacob-Abshagen ", which supported foreign forced laborers , organized political reconnaissance and planned acts of sabotage . In the Howaldt shipyard, he was part of the group management together with Oskar Voss . When the Bästlein group was exposed, he and Oskar Voss were arrested, sent to the Fuhlsbüttel concentration camp and placed in a so-called “ probation company ” that was deployed in Italy. Here he was killed.
