Alfonsas Žalys
Alfonsas Žalys (born October 5, 1929 in Raizgiai , Šiauliai district ; † December 12, 2006 in Klaipėda , Lithuania ) was a Soviet-Lithuanian politician.
Life
He learned in Šiauliai , Telšiai , Lyduvėnai , Šiluva , Radviliškis . From 1950 to 1953 he served in the Soviet Army. From 1953 to 1957 he was a journalist in Tytuvėnai . From 1957 to 1961 he graduated from the party college in Vilnius and in 1964 studied economics at the Vilniaus universitetas . From 1969 to 1990 he was chairman of the Executive Committee of the Klaipėda People's Deputy Council ( Mayor ).
From 1990 to 1992 he was a member of the Seimas , from 1990 to 1995, 1995–1997, 1998–2000 and 2001–2003 a member of the Klaipėda City Council.
He is married and has the son Vytautas .
