history

The establishment of the “Commercial Training School of the City of Cologne” in 1891/1892 was the nucleus of the commercial vocational school system in Cologne. The first specialist classes were set up in 1920/1938, among other things for training at freight forwarders and banks. Between 1956 and 1972, the commercial school system of the city of Cologne was reorganized several times according to branches of industry and branch focus, the commercial vocational school I was responsible for the areas of freight forwarding, banking and travel. In 1978, block tuition was introduced in banking classes and a higher commercial school was set up for high school graduates. In 1980/1992, specialist classes were created for the Federal Railways , for warehouse management and for young people without an apprenticeship. In 1992 a two-year commercial college was set up, followed in 1989/1999 by other specialist classes for newly organized or newly introduced apprenticeships, for example clerks for transport services, clerks for tourism and leisure in cooperation between the forwarding department and the EUFH. In 1999 the school was named Alfred Müller Armack Vocational College.

In 2001, technical schools for logistics , tourism and financial services were established. In 2002/2008 a school development took place in the model project "Independent School" and the introduction of the combined model "School - Internship" and the three-year commercial college for competitive athletes. On October 23, 2008, the new school building of the AMA Cologne was inaugurated on the campus in Zollstock by the Cologne mayor Fritz Schramma . In 2009 the Football Association named the college as an elite school of football , which has now also become a member of the “Association of Sports-focused Schools in Cologne”. In 2010 the AMA Cologne joined the network “School without Racism - School with Courage”.
