Alfred Albert Arraj

Alfred Albert Arraj (born September 1, 1906 in Kansas City , Missouri , †  October 23, 1992 in Denver , Colorado ) was an American lawyer . After his appointment by President Dwight D. Eisenhower , he served as a federal judge in the federal district court for the District of Colorado from 1957 to 1976 .

Career

After leaving school Alfred Arraj attended the University of Colorado in Boulder , at the Law School he the 1928 Bachelor of Laws acquired. He then practiced until 1949 alternately in Denver and Springfield as a lawyer. Between 1942 and 1946 he served in the US Army , in which it rose to major . From 1949 to 1957 he served as a judge on the Colorado District Court for the 15th judicial district of his state.

On July 2, 1957, Arraj was appointed by President Eisenhower to succeed Jean Sala Breitenstein as a judge on the United States District Court for the District of Colorado . After confirmation by the US Senate , which took place on August 5 of the same year, he was able to take office the next day. From 1959 to 1976 he was Chief Judge Chairman of this federal court . On August 31, 1976, he switched to senior status and thus effectively retired. His seat fell to John L. Kane ; the court was presided over by Fred M. Winner . Alfred Arraj died on October 23, 1992 in Denver. The federal court building there is named after him.
