Alfred Blumstein

Alfred Blumstein (* 1930 in New York ) is an American systems analyst and criminologist . He is Professor of Urban Research and Operations Research at the private Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh .

In 2007, Blumstein was awarded the Stockholm Prize in Criminology for his contributions to developmental criminology . He had researched the incidence and frequency of crime over the course of criminal careers.

In 1971 he was elected a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science . He has been a member of the National Academy of Engineering since 1998 .
