Alfred Cary Schlesinger

Alfred Cary Schlesinger ( February 17, 1900 - April 26, 1993 ), also known as Alfredo Schlesinger , was an American historian .

Life

In 1922 he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant with the 305 Field Artillery Battalion . In 1924 he became a graduate philologist at Princeton University . In 1928 Alfredo Schlesinger was the personal secretary of General Tiburcio Carías Andino in Honduras . Schlesinger and Elena Alegria were the parents of María Schlesinger de Asturias. From 1930 to 1938 Schlesinger was a military attaché at the US Embassy in Guatemala City . He wrote for the daily newspapers La Hora and El Imparcial . From 1939 to 1965 he held the chair in the history of antiquity at Oberlin College in Oberlin, Ohio .
