Alfred E. Vallette

Alfred E. Vallette (born August 25, 1860 in Jussy near Geneva ; † August 23, 1941 ) was a Swiss engineer , building contractor and co-founder of the Wartmann & Vallette Cie in Brugg .

Life

Alfred E. Vallette, born as the son of a pastor in Jussy, attended the Swiss Federal Polytechnic in Zurich from 1880 to 1885 . He then worked for two years as a construction manager for the construction of the Coulouvrenière power plant in Geneva and then for three years as an engineer at the construction company Probst, Chappuis & Wolf in Bern .

From 1890 to 1899 he headed the bridge construction office of the Nordostbahn in Zurich . During this time, among other things, the right bank Zurichseebahn from Zurich via Meilen to Rapperswil with the new Limmat Bridge at Zurich Letten station and the railway bridge over the Rhine near Eglisau were built.

In 1899 Alfred E. Vallette founded the collective partnership Wartmann & Vallette Cie. Together with Rudolf Wartmann-Füchslin . in Brugg. The company, which specializes in large steel structures, was able to carry out demanding projects throughout Switzerland, such as the Aare Bridge near Brugg in 1903, the Montblanc Bridge in Geneva, the Baltschied viaduct of the Lötschbergbahn and several large SBB station roofs .

From 1907 to 1914, the company also had a branch in Geneva in order to be able to carry out orders in western Switzerland, for example for the Ateliers de Sécheron and the construction of the Geneva-Cornavin train station in 1929.

Vallette was part of the company until 1931.
