Alfred Heindler (born January 31, 1927 in Niklasdorf ; † January 2, 2005 in Leoben ) was an Austrian district politician of the SPÖ Leoben, who was known throughout Austria as a humorist under the name Der kleine Fredy .

Life

Alfred Heindler was born the unmarried son of a Hungarian factory worker and a factory worker in Niklasdorf in Styria . When he was three years old, his mother separated from his father and married a civil servant who adopted Fredy. Between 1938 and 1945 he suffered under the Nazi regime because his biological father was Jewish. Because of his (half) Jewish descent, he was discriminated against and humiliated in school. While his biological father and his family perished in the concentration camp , he survived the war years. He came to the factory school of the Alpine Montan Gesellschaft in Donawitz and was trained as an electrician there. After the war, he became assistant to the education workers Works Council in Donawitz.

He organized entertainment events and began himself with humorous interludes, became a folk humorist and achieved regional popularity. At first he played father-son dialogues and soon appeared in the ORF television programs “And the music plays too ” and “The colorful umbrella”. At first he appeared in a Styrian suit . Then he completely slipped into the role of the son, "Little Fredy", a naive schoolboy whom he spoke with a falsetto voice . He dressed in a sailor suit , which became his trademark. "Little Fredy" always spoke school German , which he did not speak properly, however, and told of experiences in his family that, as an inexperienced boy, he did not fully understand. His opening song was therefore "I am still stupid, I am still small, my heart is not dirty". A record company discovered him and urged him to perform in Vienna . For more than three years he performed as "Little Fredy" in the Vienna Prater, and as a result he made 29 records, three of which were gold (for over 100,000 pieces).

He also starred in films and toured America. So the poor, who grew up in poor conditions, was able to build a single-family house.

In the last years of his life he needed a heart transplant , the heart came from a 17-year-old. In addition, there were other operations that ultimately made him so unable to walk that he spent most of his final years in a wheelchair.

He was married to Erni and had a daughter, Silvia.
