Alfred Jorel

Alfred Jorel (* around 1860 in Paris , France ; † April 3, 1927 ) was a French sculptor .

Life

Jorel was a student of the sculptor Jean Carlus . He made statuettes from bronze, ivory and chryselephantine as well as jewelery from ivory in Art Nouveau and Art Deco styles . Many of Jorel's characters show children in everyday situations, but he also depicts religious themes.

In 1896 he became a member of the Société des Artistes Français and exhibited at the society's salons. Here he was awarded a bronze medal in 1907.

Alfred Jorel was the father of the painter Alfred Jorel junior, who painted views of Paris in the 20th century and exhibited them at the Salon of the Société des Artistes Indépendants in Paris.
