Alfred Georg Reinhold Katz (born July 12, 1939 in Stuttgart ) is a lawyer , honorary professor and former First Mayor of Ulm .

Life

Alfred Katz completed his studies in law, politics and economics at the universities of Tübingen and Munich after completing his training as an administrative graduate . From 1984 to 2000 he was the first mayor of the city ​​of Ulm for the area of ​​central control. In this role he was u. a. Chairman of the finance committee of the Baden-Württemberg City Council for over 10 years. From 2000 to 2003 he worked for Arthur Andersen (today: Ernst & Young ). Since 2003 he has been a partner in the law firm SGP Schneider Geiwitz & Partner.

Alfred Katz has made a number of publications, especially in the areas of constitutional law , administrative sciences, municipal economic and tax law and finance. Since 1975 he has been writing a standard work in the field of constitutional law (constitutional law: principles, government organization, fundamental rights) in 19 editions so far. Since 1973 he has been a lecturer and since 1991 honorary professor at the University of Public Administration and Finance in Ludwigsburg .

In addition to his professional career, Alfred Katz was involved in a large number of associations and institutions. Among other things, he was a member of the presidium of the SSV Ulm 1846 for over 10 years . In addition, ecumenism is of particular concern to him - as deputy president he supported the Unità dei Cristiani eV - a support group of the ecumenical movement.
