Alfred Lau

Alfred Lau (born October 1, 1898 in Friedrichshof , East Prussia , † October 15, 1971 in Bad Grund (Harz) ) was a German journalist and dialect poet.

Life

He spent his youth with his grandparents in Tammowischken (1938–1946: Tammau, today in Russian: Timofejewka) near Insterburg (Tschernjachowsk). He received his doctorate and in 1924 became editor of the program magazine Der Königsberger Rundfunk . He joined the NSDAP and became head of the East Prussian regional association of the Reich Association of the German Press . In 1928 he became director of the Reichsender Königsberg .

At the time of National Socialism he was Reichskultursenator , editor-in-chief of the Nazi publication Preußische Zeitung and presidential councilor at the Reichsrundfunkkammer . He also worked as a Gau speaker in the East Prussian Gau .

He is considered the most important archivist of East Prussian dialect and wit.
