Alfred Müller-Kranich

Alfred Müller-Kranich (* 1955 in Kötzting ) is a German composer and organist .

Müller-Kranich studied concert organ improvisation , church music , including organ with Daniel Roth and Stefan Klinda, and composition with Wilhelm Killmayer at the Munich University of Music and Theater , the Mozarteum Salzburg and the Saarland University of Music . He also studied music education , school music , musicology , theater studies and philosophy .

He was awarded the 1st Prize of the City of Munich and was a member of the German National Academic Foundation; In 1995 he was also a finalist in the international organ improvisation competition Knokke-Heist . International courses with Michael Radulescu , Ton Koopman , Harald Vogel , Nigel Allcoat , Jos van der Koy , Renate Zimmermann and Wolfgang Seifen rounded off his comprehensive training.

Müller-Kranich worked for several years as regional cantor in the Diocese of Osnabrück; since 1988 he has been cantor at the St. Matthias Basilica in Trier. He also teaches at the church music school in Trier, works as a freelance speaker for the local diocese, holds an honorary professorship for organ at the church music department of the Mainz University of Music and publishes.

Müller-Kranich is an internationally sought-after concert organist; In several radio and television stations in the FRG he appeared as an organist, composer, improviser. The focus of his concert activities is on both early music back to the beginnings of organ music and the avant-garde, he also prefers improvisations in different styles. Various musicological writings (among others with Melos), organ works (with Paulinusverlag) and music with harp (with Pro Musica et Arte) as well as choral works (with SOL-Musik and Kessler) have been published by him and document the breadth of his work.
