Alfred Metzschke

Alfred Metzschke (born November 16, 1857 in Leipzig , † 1941 ) was a German politician ( SPD ) and trade unionist . He was chairman of the German hat workers' association and a member of the state parliaments of Saxony-Altenburg and the Thuringian state parliaments .

Life

Metzschke, a trained hat maker , joined the German hat workers' association in 1886. From October 1890 to November 1918 he was chairman of the main board of the hat workers' association based in Altenburg . Until 1913 he was also editor of the association organ "Correspondent". In 1914 Metzschke became secretary of the International Hat Workers' Union. From 1893 to 1908 he also worked as chairman of the trade union cartel in Altenburg.

From 1900 to 1911 Metzschke was chairman of the SPD constituency organization Sachsen-Altenburg . From November 1918 to 1923 he was a member or state councilor in the state or regional government of Saxony-Altenburg.

From April 1910 to June 1920 he was a member of the state parliament of Saxony-Altenburg , from summer 1919 to June 1920 a member of the People's Council of Thuringia , from June 1920 to September 1921 a member of the Thuringian state parliament and from 1921 to 1923 a member of the regional representation of Saxony-Altenburg.
