The Landtag of the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg was a historic parliament and was the legislature of the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg in the Weimar Republic from 1919 to 1920 .
Legal basis and structure
On April 26, 1919, the state parliament passed a law for provisional regulation of the constitution . However, this constitution was not to acquire any significance, since the state parliament already approved the joint agreement on June 6th of that year with 27 votes against 8 and thus contributed to the formation of the state of Thuringia on May 1st, 1920.
Due to imperial law, the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg was dissolved and part of the newly created state of Thuringia . The Thuringian Landtag thus became the successor to the Landtag of the Free State of Saxony-Altenburg.
The state parliament had 40 members.
