The Landtag of the Free State of Anhalt was the state parliament and thus the legislature of the Free State of Anhalt in the Weimar Republic . Its predecessors were the estates of the Duchy of Anhalt .
Legal basis and structure
According to Art. 7 ff. Of the Constitution of the Free State of Anhalt of July 18, 1919, the Landtag consisted of 36 members who were elected for a term of three years (from 1923: four years) according to the principle of proportional representation. The minimum age for active and passive voting rights was 21 years.
Its tasks were the legislative, the supervision of the state leadership and administration, the exercise of the budget right, the choice of the state ministry and, if necessary, the ministerial indictment.
The legal basis for the election of the state parliament was the state election law of May 7, 1920.
With the law on the rebuilding of the Reich of January 30, 1934, the state parliament was dissolved. After the Second World War , the state of Saxony-Anhalt was established in the Soviet occupation zone instead of the state of Anhalt . Its Landtag took over the functions of the Landtag of the predecessor countries.
