Alfred von Franck (born March 3, 1808 in Vienna , † December 4, 1884 in Graz ) was an Austrian painter , etcher , lithographer and art professor.

Life

Alfred Ritter von Franck was the third oldest son of the Viennese banker Johann Jacob von Franck and at the same time the brother of the writer Gustav von Franck, who was one year younger . Franck gave art lessons to the young Emperor Franz Josef I of Austria . In August 1853, the Austrian Art Association exhibited twenty-five of his pencil-drawn landscapes. During his military service he was a kk major in the 12th Infantry Regiment. After completing his military service, he taught as a professor at the Wiener Neustädter Military Academy .

Alfred von Franck was married to Caroline Scholz , the daughter of the famous actor Wenzel Scholz , and was therefore in contact with Johann Nestroy .
