The Alfred Wachholz (Elbe 27) is a former harbor patrol boat of the Hamburg water police and is now a museum ship in Hamburg .

history

The launch was built in 1959 as Wasserschutzpolizei 27 under construction number 416 at the Ernst Menzer shipyard in Hamburg-Bergedorf as one of ten units of the same type for the Hamburg waterway police. The barges powered by diesel engines, some of which were equipped differently, replaced the steam barges that had been used up until then.

The water police 27 was deployed at various water police stations in the port of Hamburg and on the Elbe to Lauenburg above Hamburg.

In the course of her service with the water police, the launch was converted into a radar training boat for the Hamburg water police school. In June 1992 she was decommissioned and returned to service in 1993 as the museum ship Alfred Wachholz . The launch can carry up to 20 passengers.

Technical specifications

The barge is from an eight-cylinder - diesel engine the manufacturer MWM with a power of 173  kW driven. The engine acts on a controllable pitch propeller . The launch reaches a speed of 11  knots .
