Alfred Wendel

Alfred Wendel (born April 17, 1958 in Werl ) is a German director of the Duisburg Philharmonic .

Life

Alfred Wendel was born in Werl, he is married and has two children. He studied education , musicology and art history in Göttingen . He was with the thesis A student music collection of the Reformation doctorate .

Wendel was the event manager of the Rheingau Music Festival in Wiesbaden, head of administration of the Ruhr Piano Festival , employee in the artistic office of the Göttingen International Handel Festival and the Ruhr Area Initiative in Essen. He gave this new impetus with the Night of Industrial Culture Extraschicht , the long museum night in the Folkwang Museum .

Alfred Wendel has been Artistic Director of the Duisburg Philharmonic since February 2006. With his modernization of the appearance of the traditional orchestra and the new conception of content, he achieved an increase in the number of visitors to the Duisburg concert series.

Silver tuning fork

Wendel was awarded the Silver Tuning Fork of the State Music Council of North Rhine-Westphalia for special services to musical life in North Rhine-Westphalia . The public award ceremony took place on September 14, 2013.
