Alfred von Chlapowo Chlapowski (Polish: Alfred Stefan Franciszek Chłapowski; born October 5, 1874 in Bonikowo , † February 19, 1940 in Kościan ) was a Polish minister, diplomat and member of the German Reichstag .

Life

Chlapowski attended the Mariengymnasium in Poznan from 1888 to 1894 and studied economics (especially agricultural policy), law, history and philosophy in Berlin , Paris , Halle and Munich until 1899, where he received his doctorate at the state economics faculty. He took over the Bonikowo and Chlapowo estates in 1897 and 1899, respectively. By 1903, he traveled to most countries in Europe, Asia Minor, North Africa and Sudan . He was a member of the board of directors and board members of various cooperatives and associations and employees of various political newspapers.

From March 1904 he was a member of the German Reichstag for the constituency of Posen 7 ( Schrimm , Schroda ) and the Polish parliamentary group . He resigned his mandate on November 20, 1908.

In 1922 he became a member of the Sejm and from October 27 to December 14, 1923 he was Polish Minister of Agriculture. On March 22, 1924 he was appointed envoy and from November 27, 1924 to June 20, 1936 he was the Polish ambassador to France. After the German invasion of Poland , he was arrested and died in the prison in Kościan.
