Alfredo and Angelo Castiglioni

Alfredo Castiglioni (born March 18, 1937 in Busto Arsizio ; † February 14, 2016 in Gallarate ) and his twin brother Angelo Castiglioni (born March 18, 1937 in Busto Arsizio ) were Italian documentary filmmakers and authors .

Life

The twins studied economics at the Università Cattolica in Milan and traveled to the African continent from 1957 , making numerous documentaries and photo reports. Her specialty was archaeological sites, which she also described in numerous books and reports. Since the late 1960s, some of her films, mostly cut in the form of Mondo films , have also been shown in cinemas.

The brothers have received several awards. The Castiglionis were also active as archaeologists in the new millennium and caused a sensation in 2009 when they discovered bones in the Sahara, in which they believe they see an army of the Persian King Cambyses II .

Alfredo Castiglioni died of a heart attack on February 14, 2016 after returning from Eritrea at the age of 78.
