Alfredo Méndez-Gonzalez

Alfredo José Isaac Cecilio Francesco Méndez-Gonzalez CSC (born June 3, 1907 in Chicago , † January 29, 1995 in Cincinnati ) was a Catholic bishop .

After Méndez-Gonzalez became a priest in Washington, DC on June 24, 1935, Pope John XXIII appointed him . on July 23, 1960 to the Roman Catholic Bishop of Arecibo in Puerto Rico . The episcopal ordination took place on October 28, 1960 in Notre Dame (Indiana) by Cardinal Francis Spellman . In 1974 he resigned as Bishop of Arecibo and returned to California.

In 1993 Mendez-Gonzalez consecrated the former priest of the Society of St. Pius X. Clarence James Kelly (* 1941) without permission in Carlsbad .
