Alfried Lehner

Alfried Lehner (born October 27, 1936 in Dresden ; † February 22, 2019 in Schorndorf ) was a German soldier , poet , essayist and well-known Freemason .

Life

Lehner was born in Dresden in 1936. After attending the humanistic grammar school in Eichstätt , he graduated from high school in 1956 and joined the newly founded Bundeswehr . He eventually became an officer in the general staff and most recently worked as a lecturer at the leadership academy of the Bundeswehr in Hamburg . His first volumes of poetry were published during his military career. After completing his officer career in 1986, at his own request, he intensified his journalistic activities. He has published poetry, essays and books on Freemasonry. He is considered to be “one of the most important Masonic authors of the past 40 years.” Alfried Lehner is the great-nephew of ethnologist and missionary Stephan Lehner .

Honorary positions

In 1977 Lehner became a member of the Roland Masonic Lodge in Hamburg, of which he was Master of the Chair from 1983 to 1986. From 1988 to 2002 he was chairman of the ritual college of the grand lodge of the Old Free and Accepted Masons of Germany. He was deputy chairman of the Humboldt Society and the Socratic Society .
