Ali Dara

Ali Iqtidar Shah Dara ( April 1, 1915 - January 16, 1981 ) was a Pakistani hockey player who won gold with the Indian team at the 1936 Olympic Games .

At the 1936 Olympic Games in Berlin , Ali Dara was a young striker who was only used in the semifinals and finals, scoring four goals.

After Pakistan's independence in 1947, Ali Dara became the first captain of the Pakistani national team . At the 1948 Olympic Games in London , he scored ten times in seven games. He scored the only Pakistani goal at 1-1 in the first bronze game against the Dutch and also in the replay, which Pakistan lost 4-1, Ali Dara was his team's only goalscorer. Curiously, the Pakistani team had beaten the Dutch 6-1 in the preliminary round, to which Dara had contributed four goals.

Ali Dara was after his active career in various capacities in Pakistan Hockey Federation operates and the first Pakistani Olympic victory in 1960 involved as manager after Pakistan's selection in 1956 had led as a coach for the Olympic silver medal.
