Ali Saïdi-Sief

Ali Saïdi-Sief ( Arabic علي سعيدي سياف, DMG ʿAlī Saʿīdī Siyāf ; * March 15, 1978 in Constantine ) is an Algerian middle and long distance runner .

At the African Championships in 1998 he won bronze over 1500 meters and 2000 gold over 5000 meters .

Saïdi-Sief celebrated his greatest success at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. Behind the Ethiopian Million Wolde , he won the silver medal over 5000 meters.

At the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton , he first won the silver medal again in the 5000 meter run. When he tested positive for the steroid nandrolone after his competition , the World Athletics Federation revoked his medal and banned him for two years.

After his doping ban, Saïdi-Sief took part again in the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 and celebrated a successful comeback with tenth place over 5000 meters. At the World Championships in Helsinki in 2005 he was fifth over this distance.
