Alice Kuipers (* 1979 in London ) is a British author.

Life

Kuipers grew up in a suburb of London and was already writing poems, stories and diary entries in her notebook as a teenager. At the age of 18, she embarked on a one-year trip alone, which took her to the Cook Islands , Fiji , the United States, Australia, Cambodia and Vietnam , among others . She graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Psychology , but spent more time working on a novel than studying. This was followed by a Magister Artium at Manchester Metropolitan University . Kuipers has lived in Saskatoon, Canada, since 2003 .

Kuiper's first novel, Life on the Refrigerator Door , was published in 2007 by Macmillan Publishers and consists of a written dialogue between a mother with cancer and her 15-year-old daughter. The book was u. a. translated into German ( see you tomorrow? ), Finnish, French, Dutch, Polish, Spanish and Swedish, and has so far been published in 29 countries. The book was in 2008 for a Carnegie Medal nominated and received a number of awards for youth literature, including the Redbridge Teenage Book Award of the London district Redbridge . The German and English language versions are also available as audio books.

Her next novel, Lost for Words , was published in 2010.
