history

First, the music of the Alien Sex Fiend was played in the Batcave Club as background music to old silent films. On December 1, 1982, the band appeared on the Batcave stage for the first time. In 1986 they won over the masses in the opening act for Alice Cooper on his UK tour.

With the singles Ignore the Machine , RIP , New Christian Music , Dead and Buried and EST - Trip to the Moon , they achieved placements in the top 10 of the British independent singles charts even before the tour with Alice Cooper . A single in the unusual eleven-inch format was released for the song EST - Trip to the Moon because of the length of the piece.

The band consists of Nik Fiend and his wife Mrs. Fiend (Nikolas and Christine Wade). The couple is also supported by some musicians, at the beginning these were Johnnie "Ha Ha" Freshwater, who left the band in 1985 after a tour of Asia, and Yaxi Highrizer, who left Alien Sex Fiend in 1987.

A first best of album, All Our Yesterdays , was released in 1988 . The 1990 album Curse contains the club hits Now I'm Feeling Zombified and Katch 22, two of the band's longest tracks, which together fill one side of a long-playing record . The following years were marked by publications of various kinds. The musical spectrum of ASF's ranges from Gothic Punk to Post-Industrial to experimental Techno and Ambient tracks. The album Inferno , released in 1994, was created from the soundtrack to the computer game of the same name, which was written by Mr. and Mrs. Fiend together with Barry Leitch .

Although the band is rather unknown to the public, Alien Sex Fiends have had a significant influence on the development of alternative music and culture. Stars like Alice Cooper , Iggy Pop , Marilyn Manson , Robert De Niro , Billy Idol , Tim Burton (see the hero's t-shirt in Mars Attacks! ), The Orb , Rob Halford , Lacrimosa , Das Ich and many others show it off To be fans of Alien Sex Fiend.

When presenting their music on stage, Alien Sex Fiend use various props such as distorted mannequins, color differences and light, fog, as well as surreal objects and images. During the performance, Nik Fiend usually smokes cigarettes without a break, stares into the audience with confused eyes or writhes across the floor in a fit of fits and screeches and hums into his microphone.

Nik Fiend's style is evident not only in the band's music, but also in the design of the record covers. He sells his pictures through exhibitions parallel to concerts and via the Internet. The Fiends now sell their art completely independently and on their own.
