Alieu Momodou N'gum (born August 12, 1950 ) is a politician and diplomat in the West African state of Gambia .

Life

N'gum studied from 1973 at Keele University in Great Britain.

N'gum previously from 2002 Head of the civil service and was on 14 June 2005 the Cabinet of Gambia as Minister of Finance and Economy ( English Secretary of State for Finance and Economic Affairs ), replacing Margaret Keita appointed. In a cabinet reshuffle on 14 November 2005 N'gum was of Musa Gibril Bala Gaye replaced, he took over until 25 October 2006, the department Trade, Industry and Employment ( English Secretary of State for Trade, Industry and Employment ).

On May 10, 2010, N'gum was appointed Gambian Ambassador to the United States . Prior to this appointment, N'gum was previously Head of the National Planning Commission and had already served as Ambassador to Riyadh ( Saudi Arabia ) and Brussels ( Belgium ).

Personal

On February 6, 1981, he married Aminatta N'gum from Zimbabwe , whom he met in 1974 while studying. The two have three grown children, Mignone, Momodom and Sohna. Her son Jibril died in a traffic accident in 2011.
