Bales was selected ninth in the 2007 WNBA Draft by the Indiana Fever .
On April 25, 2008, Barack Obama was playing basketball with students at Maple Crest Middle School in Kokomo , Indiana . Bales also took part in this game and played on Obama's team, which won the game with 15-5. Indiana Fever star Tamika Catchings took on the role of referee in this game .
On July 4, 2008, she was transferred to the Atlanta Dream for Kristen Mann .
