Alison Knowles (rower)

Alison Margaret Knowles (born March 27, 1982 in Bournemouth ) is a former British rower .

Athletic career

In 2003, Alison Knowles finished sixth in the four without a helmsman at the U23 World Championships . In 2004 she won the gold medal with Natasha Page , Beth Rodford and Anna Bebington .

In 2005, Knowles competed in the Rowing World Cup in two without a helmsman , in a four without a helmsman and in eight . At the 2005 World Championships , she finished fifth with eighth place. The following year, the British eighth missed the A final at the World Championships in front of a home crowd in Eton and only finished eighth. In 2007 the eighth reached the final at the World Championships in Munich and won the bronze medal behind the boats from the United States and Romania. In her only Olympic participation in Beijing in 2008 , Knowles was only used in the pre-run and hope run, she was not in fifth place in the final.

The British eighth also finished fifth at the 2009 World Championships , this time Knowles was also involved in the final. Fourth place followed at the 2010 World Championships . As in 2007, the British eighth won bronze at the World Championships in the pre-Olympic year 2011 . Then the international career of the 1.87 m tall rower ended.
