Alistair Foot

Alistair Foot (born July 2, 1930 in Cambridge , † April 26, 1971 ) was a British film and playwright who was best known as a comedy writer.

Life

Foot attended Perse School in his hometown, Beverley Grammar School in Beverley, and Eaglehurst College in Northampton . He finished school at the age of 15. He then worked as a journalist and then in the advertising industry.

Alistair made his breakthrough in film and theater together with Anthony Marriott . The written with him comedies Uproar in the House , and please do not have sex, we're British (No Sex Please: We're British) are among his most famous stage plays. Already with Uproar in the House , the two were very successful in theaters in London's West End from 1967 to 1969 . No sex, please, we are British was performed there in three theaters between 1971 and 1987 a total of 6,761 times and was filmed in 1973 with the help of Marriott. This makes the play the longest performed in British theater history. Also Uproar in the House was in 1971 by Peter Gold tree under the title A great rotation for the Bayerischer Rundfunk in German language filmed.

Alistair died after a brief serious illness during the rehearsals for No Sex Please: We're British and did not live to see the success of the piece.
